Our NYE + DIY Table Runner

Happy 2016, y'all!

We spent a quiet New Year's Eve "en famille" with my husband's parents, enjoying some amazing Parisian treats a very thoughtful friend had sent them for Christmas. The kids dressed up and were so excited about having a "party" at our house.

At the last minute I decided our table needed a little something extra, yet I didn't want to go full-on table cloth with 4 and 2 year olds in attendance because, if we're being honest, I wasn't thrilled about the idea of a post-dinner date with Spray N Wash in my laundry room. So I improvised and this simple DIY table runner was born! Here's all you need:

1. Solid wrapping paper - I used Knot & Bow's chalkboard wrapping paper

2. Sharpie paint pen - I used a gold medium tip paint pen, but white and silver would also be pretty on black

3. Scissors

I rolled the paper across the length of our table, cut it so about a foot hung off each end, then went to work writing names above where each plate would sit. I added some stars and 2016s for bonus festive flair. Afterwards, set the table, arrange your flowers, light some candles, and voila: you're ready for a dinner party!

Our NYE was festive, simple and memorable. Here's to a 2016 filled with plenty of those three things!

xo,

B
