Showering Baby Cecilia

My precious cousin Miriam (well she's technically my husband's cousin, but she's so fabulous I really want to call her my cousin) is expecting a baby girl this October, and earlier this month her friends hosted the most perfect baby shower for her in Columbus, MS. It was an afternoon filled with pink and ribbons and iced tea and all kinds of delightful things...and naturally we had to incorporate a little calligraphy into the day to make it extra special!

The shower was held at the Lee Home in Columbus, which is just jaw-droppingly gorgeous. I so wanted to stay there and casually transform it into the Hunt Home. Seriously - it's gorgeous and was the perfect setting for a shower. The home was built in 1847 and is filled with oodles of beautiful furnishings and paintings and chandeliers and goodness.

Miriam's baby girl, Evelyn Cecilia McCoy, will be named after Miriam and my husband's late maternal grandmother, which is so very special. She will go by Cecilia. It makes me smile every time I write her name even though I never had the privilege of knowing her.

Miriam had a fit over the calligraphy macarons my father-in-law baked (yes, he bakes macarons, and really delicious ones) and I wrote on for Cortney and Rodger's wedding celebration...so quite naturally we knew we had to surprise her with some for her shower. So we made baby Cecilia some pretty pink personalized macarons.

I made a pink watercolor dip-dyed card and wrote on it in gold ink for the gift tag on my present to Cecilia. I also wrote on a letterpress card for the gift my mother-in-law and aunt gave Cecilia.

Lastly, for Miriam's hostess presents she gave bottles of a vinaigrette from one of her favorite gourmet stores, so I wrote out a salad recipe that we printed on ecru scalloped cards and secured to the wrapping from behind the card with gold glitter washi tape because...well, we had to use gold glitter washi tape somewhere!

Hope you enjoy a few pics from beautiful Miriam and Cecilia's special day. We can't wait to meet this little lady when she arrives in the fall!

B
